State of Columbia! How did that happen? Very simply, Columbia was split off from Maryland to be the seat of U.S. Government in 1801. The District of Columbia is controlled by Congress and is not a state.
Columbia's people did not yield their Art. I § 2 constitutional rights which guarantee representation in Congress through a State of the Union. Columbia's unrepealed state law provides that our State Legislature may choose that Congressional representation. Full legal details and links on home page..

Nominations

Nominations are closed. Notice was given under sections II and XIV of the founding Laws of Columbia, consented to by people’s convention and affirmed in multiple Acts of Congress, that the submission of nominations for the State Legislature must be received by Friday October 25, 2024 at 5:00pm at nominate@StateofColumbia.org.
Voting

Voting will take place on or before 10:00pm EDT Tuesday November 3, 2024.

Voting will be entirely electronic and verified against the list of registered voters in Columbia. You may only vote once. You may only vote if you are a permanently resident in Columbia and are at least 18.
